On the Trail
We are not doing a hike this month due to our overnight camping trip to Peppermint Park on July 26th. This campout is limited to 3rd Rock Kids members that participated in our granola fundraiser. If we have any open spots once the fundraiser members have signed up, I will announce for other members to attend with a fee.

Light It Up Workshop
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025
5:30 PM, - 7:00 PM
Our youth will be creating fireflies from recycled water bottles and lanterns from plastic mason style jars. We will discuss how fireflies light up the sky and do an experiment showing how chemicals cause the illumination.

Nebula Workshop
5:30pm to 7:00 pm
Our instructor Ashley Messier will lead the youth on an exploration of the universe. Ashley is working towards her Phd in Astronomy and will talk about the Nebula. The youth will create Nebula Slime and a Nebula jar to bring home.

Eco-System Workshop
Wednesday, July 30th, 2025
5:30 PM, - 7:00 PM
Our youth will be setting up two ecosystems, one for fish and one for reptiles. We will establish an aquarium using the Walstad Method. This is an approach that emphasizes creating a self-sustaining, balanced ecosystem within the tank. It aims to minimize external intervention by relying on live plants and a nutrient-rich soil substrate to filter the water and provide a stable environment for fish and other aquatic life.
